Blessed Dom Mikel Beltoja Prayer Card – Patron for Courage to Preach Truth, Unjust Execution & Perseverance Under Interrogation

$3.00

Blessed Dom Mikel Beltoja was a Roman Catholic priest of Albania who refused to dilute the Gospel when atheistic ideology demanded silence. He lived in Albania during the harsh Communist persecution of the Church, a time when sermons were monitored, confessionals were infiltrated, and priests were pressured to serve the state instead of Christ.

He is commemorated with the Albanian martyrs on November 5.

Blessed Dom Mikel did not hide his convictions. He preached openly about moral truth, about the dignity of the human soul, and about the impossibility of replacing God with political power. He knew the consequences. The regime was already arresting clergy, closing churches, and executing those who would not cooperate.

He was arrested.
He was interrogated.
He was sentenced to death.

His execution was carried out publicly to intimidate others. Yet the attempt to silence him only strengthened the faith of those who heard his final words.

People pray to Blessed Dom Mikel Beltoja today for courage to preach truth in hostile environments, for strength when facing unjust execution or severe legal persecution, and for perseverance during interrogation when pressure feels crushing. He understands what it means to speak boldly while knowing the cost. He understands the fear of public accusation. He understands the interior battle between self-preservation and fidelity.

He chose fidelity.

This prayer card is for priests who feel watched, for believers pressured to compromise moral truth, and for anyone facing institutional injustice because of conscience. Blessed Dom Mikel does not offer comfort without cost. He offers strength that endures it.

  • THE LIFE & STORY OF BLESSED DOM MIKEL BELTOJA

Dom Mikel Beltoja was born in 1931 into a Catholic family in northern Albania, a region long marked by strong Christian identity and deep suffering. From a young age, he felt drawn to the priesthood. Even as Communist ideology tightened its grip on the nation, he entered seminary, knowing full well that the path he was choosing might end in persecution.

By the time he was ordained, Albania had declared itself officially atheist. Religious expression was criminalized. Churches were repurposed. Clergy were surveilled. The government sought not only to control the Church, but to erase it entirely.

Dom Mikel served in quiet parishes, preaching carefully but faithfully. He spoke about repentance, about conscience, and about Christ’s kingship over every earthly power. He refused to align the pulpit with political propaganda.

His turning point came in 1974.

He was accused of “agitation and propaganda against the state,” a charge frequently used to eliminate outspoken clergy. His sermons were scrutinized and twisted into evidence. He was arrested and subjected to intense interrogation designed to extract confession or compromise.

    He refused.

He would not admit wrongdoing. He would not reinterpret the Gospel to satisfy ideological demands. He would not betray Christ to preserve his life.

After a show trial, he was sentenced to death and executed by firing squad at the age of forty-three.

Witnesses later recalled that he faced death with calm dignity, entrusting himself to God without bitterness.

For years, his name was suppressed. Public remembrance of executed clergy was forbidden. Only after the fall of the regime did survivors begin openly recounting what had happened. In 2016, Blessed Dom Mikel Beltoja was beatified among the Albanian martyrs, restoring his voice to history.

His life teaches that preaching truth is not merely speaking.

It is accepting the cost of speaking.

  • Blessed Dom Mikel Beltoja is especially invoked by those whose vocation places them in public conflict with authority.

He is a powerful intercessor for priests, preachers, teachers, and believers facing scrutiny or legal pressure because of their convictions.

His miracles are often interior victories.
