Saint Bartholomew Prayer Card – Patron for Brutal Persecution, Courage Under Torture & Remaining Faithful When Everything Is Stripped Away

$3.00

Saint Bartholomew was one of the Twelve Apostles of Christ, a missionary to distant lands, and a martyr whose body was violently destroyed because he refused to deny Jesus. He is venerated across Eastern Orthodoxy, Eastern Catholic Churches, and Roman Catholicism as a witness whose faith endured unimaginable physical suffering.

His principal feast is celebrated on August 24 in the Roman Catholic calendar and on June 11 in many Eastern traditions.

Saint Bartholomew did not die quickly.

He was tortured.

He was flayed alive.

He was executed publicly to intimidate converts and silence the Gospel.

People pray to Saint Bartholomew today for courage under persecution, strength when facing brutal opposition, and endurance when life strips everything away. He understands what it means to be targeted for faith. He understands what it feels like to have dignity ripped from your body. He understands how terrifying it is to keep believing when pain becomes constant.

He also understands how Christ meets us when nothing else remains.

This prayer card is for believers facing hostility for their faith, for those enduring prolonged physical or emotional suffering, and for anyone whose identity feels torn apart by circumstances beyond their control. Saint Bartholomew does not offer shallow encouragement. He offers solidarity forged in blood and loyalty proven in agony.

Each card is handmade in Austin and created to order. We do not keep stock, because every prayer card is treated as a unique devotional offering. They are printed on museum-quality photo paper, not cardstock, and each one is made during prayer. The saints are venerated throughout the entire process, and prayers are intentionally offered for the person who will receive the card. These are not mass-produced items. • THE LIFE & STORY OF SAINT BARTHOLOMEW

Saint Bartholomew is traditionally identified with Nathanael in the Gospel of John, the disciple whom Jesus praised for having no deceit in his heart. He was called directly by Christ and spent years walking beside Him, witnessing miracles, absorbing teaching, and learning what it meant to love without reservation.

After the Resurrection and Pentecost, Bartholomew became a missionary apostle, traveling far beyond familiar territory. Ancient traditions place his preaching in Armenia, Mesopotamia, Persia, and even India. Wherever he went, he carried no wealth, no protection, and no political authority.

    He carried Christ.

His ministry was marked by conversions and healings, but also by resistance from pagan rulers who feared losing power. In Armenia, Bartholomew’s preaching led many to abandon idol worship, including members of the royal household.

    That made him dangerous.

Local authorities ordered his arrest. What followed was deliberate cruelty meant to terrify believers and erase Christianity from the region.

Bartholomew was stripped, bound, and flayed alive.

This was not a symbolic execution.

    It was prolonged, intentional torture.

Every layer of skin removed was meant to force renunciation.

    He did not renounce.

Even as his body was destroyed, he continued confessing Christ. Afterward, he was beheaded.

The Church remembers him not as a victim, but as a victor who bore witness through unbearable pain.

His interior struggle cannot be overstated.

He endured physical agony beyond imagination.
    He endured humiliation before crowds.
He endured isolation from fellow apostles.

Yet he remained anchored in Christ.

Saint Bartholomew teaches that discipleship does not end when suffering begins.

    It is proven there.

  • MIRACLES & PATRONAGE

Saint Bartholomew stands close to those enduring extreme suffering and persecution.

He is especially invoked by Christians facing hostility, by people living with chronic physical pain, and by those whose dignity has been violated through abuse or trauma.

    Patron Saint Of:

    • Courage under brutal persecution
    • Endurance through physical suffering
    • Faithfulness when stripped of dignity
    • Survivors of torture or violence
    • Skin diseases and bodily afflictions
    • Christians facing oppression

While many of his miracles are recorded through the spread of Christianity in regions hostile to the Gospel, countless faithful continue to pray through his intercession for strength during medical crises, clarity when faith is attacked, and peace when the body feels betrayed.

His miracles rarely arrive as instant relief.

    They arrive as supernatural endurance.
They arrive as calm inside chaos.
They arrive as strength that cannot be explained.

Saint Bartholomew does not remove every cross.

    He helps carry it.
