$3.00

Saint Cyril VI of Alexandria was the 116th Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church, a modern saint whose life radiated simplicity, prayer, and quiet miracles in the twentieth century. Born in 1902 in Egypt and departing this life in 1971, he stands as one of the most beloved spiritual fathers in recent Coptic history. He is venerated within the Oriental Orthodox tradition, especially by the Coptic Orthodox Church.

His feast day is celebrated on March 9 in the Coptic calendar.

Cyril VI did not rise to prominence through political strength or academic brilliance. He rose through prayer.

Before becoming patriarch, he lived as a monk and hermit, spending years in solitude, manual labor, and intense intercession. Even after being chosen as pope, he remained inwardly a monk, deeply committed to silence, humility, and the Divine Liturgy.

People pray to Saint Cyril VI today for inner peace when anxiety overwhelms the heart, for perseverance in prayer when God feels distant, and for comfort during prolonged hardship. His life speaks directly to those who feel spiritually tired, emotionally burdened, or uncertain about how to carry their crosses.

He knew poverty.
He knew isolation.
He knew responsibility that felt heavier than human strength.

If you are struggling to pray consistently, carrying hidden emotional weight, or seeking calm in the middle of chaos, Saint Cyril VI understands that interior battle. His witness reminds us that prayer is not performance. It is persistence. It is trust when feelings fade. It is surrender when answers do not come quickly.

This prayer card is created as a spiritual heirloom. It is meant to accompany quiet prayer corners, hospital rooms, sleepless nights, and ordinary days when the soul longs for steadiness.

Each card is handmade in Austin, TX and created to order. We do not keep stock, because every prayer card is treated as a unique devotional offering. They are printed on museum-quality photo paper, not cardstock. Every card is made slowly, during prayer, with intentional reverence for the saint or holy image and for the person who will receive it. Names are lifted before Christ. Intentions are held carefully. Each piece is handled multiple times in prayerful silence, asking God for mercy and asking the saint or Theotokos to intercede for the soul it is being made for. This is not production work. It is devotional craftsmanship shaped with patience, care, and spiritual responsibility, because every soul and every prayer matters.

  • THE LIFE & STORY

Saint Cyril VI was born Azer Youssef Atta in Damanhur, Egypt, in 1902. From childhood he displayed a deep spiritual seriousness and a longing for solitude. After completing his education and fulfilling family expectations for work, he entered monastic life at the Monastery of Saint Macarius in the Nitrian Desert.

    He did not seek recognition.

    He sought silence.

He was ordained a monk and later withdrew as a hermit, living in near isolation in Old Cairo at the mill of Saint Samuel. There he spent years in prayer, manual labor, and liturgical devotion. He celebrated the Divine Liturgy daily, often alone, offering intercessions for the suffering, the sick, and the forgotten.

Those who encountered him during this period described unusual spiritual depth and a tangible sense of peace in his presence. Word began to spread quietly that prayers offered through his intercession were answered.

In 1959, after the death of Pope Yusab II, Cyril was unexpectedly chosen to become Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria. Many were surprised. He had no political ambition and little interest in administration. Yet he accepted the burden with humility.

As pope, he led during a complex period marked by social change, political tension in Egypt, and the challenges of guiding a large and scattered flock. He strengthened monastic life, encouraged frequent liturgical participation, and restored devotion to saints, especially Saint Mina the Wonderworker, to whom he had deep personal devotion.

Under his leadership, the relics of Saint Mark the Evangelist were returned to Egypt from Rome in 1968, a moment of profound symbolic healing for the Coptic Church.

Yet his greatness was not in public achievements.

    It was in hidden prayer.

He continued to live simply. He slept little. He prayed long hours. He listened carefully to the brokenhearted. He received countless visitors seeking counsel, healing, and peace.

Many testified to physical healings and spiritual deliverance during his lifetime. Others spoke of calm returning to troubled minds simply by sitting near him.

He died on March 9, 1971.

After his death, devotion to him expanded rapidly. His tomb became a place of pilgrimage. Stories of miracles multiplied, particularly among families seeking healing, protection, and peace.

In 2013, he was formally canonized by the Coptic Orthodox Church.

Saint Cyril VI shows that holiness is not loud.

    It is steady.
    It is hidden.
    It is faithful.
