St. Sharbel Makhlouf: The Complete Guide & Miraculous Healing Prayer
The Miracle Monk of Lebanon
In the quiet mountains of Annaya, Lebanon, a humble monk named Charbel Makhlouf spent 23 years in a hermitage, speaking to almost no one. He sought to disappear into God.
But God had other plans.
Today, St. Sharbel (or Charbel) is known worldwide as the "Miracle Monk of the East." From curing the terminally ill to restoring sight to the blind, his intercession has been documented in thousands of medical miracles recognized by the Vatican. He is not just a saint for the Maronite Church; he is a saint for the impossible.

Lord, infinitely Holy and Glorified in Your Saints, You have inspired Charbel, the saint monk, to lead the perfect life of a hermit. We thank You for granting him the blessing and the strength to detach himself from the world so that the heroism of the monastic virtues of poverty, obedience, and chastity, could triumph in his hermitage.
We beseech You to grant us the grace of loving and serving You, following his example. Almighty God, Who has manifested the power of St. Charbel’s intercession through his countless miracles and favors, grant us...

Who Was St. Sharbel?
Born Youssef Antoun Makhlouf in 1828 in Bekaa Kafra (North Lebanon), he felt the call to monastic life early. He walked to the Monastery of Our Lady of Mayfouq and later to St. Maron’s Monastery in Annaya.
He died on Christmas Eve, 1898. For 45 days after his death, a bright, unearthly light surrounded his tomb, visible to the villagers below. When his tomb was opened, his body was found incorrupt—looking as if he were merely sleeping—and exuding a miraculous oil and blood mixture that healed thousands.
Feast Day: The Maronite Church celebrates him on July 23rd (3rd Sunday of July). The Roman Catholic Church celebrates him on July 24th.
"The poor man is not the one who has no money, but the one who has no prayer." — St. Sharbel
