Addiction and Recovery Saints Prayer Card Bundle: 6 Handmade Cards
Addiction is a struggle many carry in silence, and so are the families who love them. This bundle gathers saints whose lives or patronage speak to alcohol, drugs, gambling and other destructive habits, so that a person in recovery, or someone praying for them, has a patron to turn to.
Why these saints are grouped: each is invoked by people fighting addiction or by their families, from Catholic, Orthodox and Maronite traditions.
This bundle includes 6 different handmade prayer cards, one of each saint listed below.
The 6 cards in this bundle
- Saint Mark Ji Tianxiang: A Chinese physician who became addicted to opium and was long denied the sacraments for his repeated falls. He kept returning to Christ and died a martyr in 1900.
- Saint Camillus de Lellis: A soldier and compulsive gambler who lost nearly everything, was converted in 1575, and founded the Camillians to serve the sick.
- Saint John of Kronstadt: A Russian parish priest who walked the slums and fed the poor. Families still ask his prayers for loved ones caught in alcoholism.
- Saint Nimatullah Hardini: A hidden Maronite monk of Lebanon, known for silence and prayer. He is sought by those struggling with destructive habits and inner torment.
- Servant of God Joseph “Ira” Dutton: A Civil War veteran and recovering alcoholic who became Catholic and spent nearly forty-five years serving the lepers of Molokai.
- Saint Anastasia the Deliverer from Potions: A Roman martyr who nursed imprisoned Christians, including those poisoned or drugged. She is invoked against poisons and toxic influences.
Each card features sacred artwork on the front and a short biography with a prayer on the back. Every card is handmade and laminated in Austin, Texas, and a prayer is said for the person who will receive it.
Prayer cards are devotional aids. They do not replace medical care, counseling, recovery programs, or the sacraments and rites of the Church.
