Saint George the Great-Martyr Prayer Card – Patron for Courage in Battle, Protection From Evil & Victory Over Fear

$3.00

Saint George the Great-Martyr is one of the most universally loved saints in Christianity, venerated deeply in the Eastern Orthodox Church, honored throughout Eastern Catholic tradition, and revered in Roman Catholic devotion as a fearless soldier of Christ. His feast day is celebrated on April 23 in both Eastern and Western calendars.

People come to Saint George when fear feels louder than faith.
When spiritual attacks feel relentless.
When courage collapses under pressure.
When evil feels too close for comfort.
When they need strength to stand instead of retreat.

George understands this battle.

He was not a monk hidden in the desert.

He was a soldier.

Born in Cappadocia and raised in Palestine, George rose through the ranks of the Roman army, gaining honor, wealth, and imperial favor. He served under Emperor Diocletian, whose reign would soon unleash one of the most violent persecutions of Christians in history.

George could have remained silent.

He chose Christ.

He publicly confessed his faith, surrendered his military status, distributed his wealth to the poor, and stood before the emperor declaring allegiance to Jesus. What followed was prolonged torture, imprisonment, mockery, and repeated attempts to force him to renounce Christianity.

He never did.

Today, Saint George is prayed to by soldiers and first responders, families facing spiritual warfare, people battling fear or anxiety, and anyone standing in hostile environments where faith feels costly. He is especially sought by those asking for protection from evil, courage in overwhelming situations, and strength to remain faithful when threatened.

This prayer card honors the saint who teaches that bravery is not the absence of fear.

It is obedience in spite of it.

Each card is handmade in Austin and created to order. We do not keep stock, because every prayer card is treated as a unique devotional offering. They are printed on museum-quality photo paper, not cardstock, and each one is made during prayer. The saints are venerated throughout the entire process, and prayers are intentionally offered for the person who will receive the card. These are not mass-produced items. They are created slowly, reverently, and with spiritual intention, because every soul and every prayer matters.

  • Saint George lived in the late third and early fourth centuries. Born into a Christian family, he was raised with both military discipline and deep reverence for Christ. His father died as a martyr, and his mother returned with George to her homeland, where she nurtured his faith quietly.

As a young man, George entered Roman military service and distinguished himself through bravery and leadership. He quickly rose in rank and gained favor in the imperial court.

    Outwardly, he had everything.

    Inwardly, he belonged to Christ.

When Emperor Diocletian issued decrees demanding sacrifice to pagan gods and ordering the execution of Christians, George stood publicly against the edict. He tore down the proclamation, confessed Christ before the emperor, and renounced worldly honor.

    He was arrested immediately.

    What followed was systematic torture.

    He was beaten.
He was stretched on the rack.
    He was burned.
    He was imprisoned.

Yet witnesses recorded that George endured every torment with peace and prayer. According to ancient accounts, God strengthened him visibly, and many who observed his suffering converted to Christianity.

Even the emperor’s wife was moved by George’s witness.

George was offered wealth, power, and restoration of rank if he would renounce Christ.

    He refused.

Finally, he was executed by beheading around the year 303.

    He died as he lived.

    Standing.
