Saint Nicholas Prayer Card – Patron for Protection of Children, Financial Provision & Rescue in Impossible Situations

$3.00

Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker is not a legend softened by time.

He is a fourth-century bishop whose mercy shook entire cities.

Born around 270 in Patara in Lycia and later bishop of Myra, Saint Nicholas lived during the era of Roman persecution and the early peace of Constantine. He is a saint of the undivided Church, venerated across East and West, loved in monasteries and homes alike.

His principal feast is celebrated on December 6. His translation of relics is commemorated on May 9 in the Eastern calendar.

Nicholas did not seek fame.

He sought secrecy.

He is remembered for protecting children from harm, rescuing the innocent from execution, providing dowries for impoverished girls to prevent exploitation, calming storms at sea, and intervening in financial desperation. His generosity was quiet. His miracles were decisive.

People pray to Saint Nicholas when money runs out before the month does, when children need protection, and when circumstances feel impossible to solve. He understands parental anxiety. He understands financial fear. He understands the panic of injustice.

If you are carrying the weight of providing for your family, fearing for your children’s safety, or praying for intervention in a crisis that seems beyond your control, Saint Nicholas knows that burden.

His life teaches that mercy is not abstract.

It is action.

This prayer card is created as a spiritual heirloom. It is meant to accompany households in seasons of provision, protection, and urgent prayer, reminding the heart that God sends help through faithful intercessors.

Each card is handmade in Austin, TX and created to order. We do not keep stock, because every prayer card is treated as a unique devotional offering. They are printed on museum-quality photo paper, not cardstock. Every card is made slowly, during prayer, with intentional reverence for the saint or holy image and for the person who will receive it. Names are lifted before Christ. Intentions are held carefully. Each piece is handled multiple times in prayerful silence, asking God for mercy and asking the saint to intercede for the soul it is being made for. This is not production work. It is devotional craftsmanship shaped with patience, care, and spiritual responsibility, because every soul and every prayer matters.

  • THE LIFE & STORY

Saint Nicholas was born into a wealthy Christian family in Lycia. From childhood, he displayed unusual compassion. After his parents died, he inherited their estate and quietly distributed it to the poor.

One of the earliest and most enduring traditions tells of three impoverished sisters whose father could not provide dowries. Without financial security, they risked being sold into exploitation. Nicholas, under cover of night, threw bags of gold through their window, saving them from disgrace and danger.

    He did not announce it.

    He disappeared.

As bishop of Myra, Nicholas became known for fierce defense of the innocent. During a famine, he miraculously secured grain for his city. In another account, he appeared in a dream to Emperor Constantine, warning him not to execute three unjustly condemned men. Their lives were spared.

Nicholas suffered imprisonment during the persecution of Christians under Emperor Diocletian. After Constantine’s legalization of Christianity, he returned to shepherd his flock.

Tradition also connects him to the First Council of Nicaea in 325, though historical details vary. What remains constant is his reputation for zeal in defending the true faith and his tenderness toward the vulnerable.

    He reposed around 343.

His relics were later translated to Bari, Italy, spreading devotion across Europe. Over centuries, his quiet generosity became distorted into folklore, yet beneath cultural layers remains a bishop who embodied decisive mercy.

He teaches that sanctity is practical.
