Saint Stephen the Protomartyr Prayer Card – Patron for Courage Under Persecution, Forgiveness After Betrayal & Strength to Speak Truth

$3.00

Saint Stephen the Protomartyr stands at the very beginning of Christian martyrdom, venerated deeply in the Eastern Orthodox Church, honored throughout Eastern Catholic tradition, and revered in Roman Catholic devotion as the first believer to die for Christ. His feast day is celebrated on December 27 in the Eastern calendar and December 26 in the Western calendar.

People come to Saint Stephen when rejection cuts deep.
When speaking truth brings backlash instead of peace.
When forgiveness feels impossible after betrayal.
When standing for Christ leads to isolation.
When they need courage to remain faithful while being misunderstood.

Stephen understands this cost intimately.

He was not killed by strangers.

He was killed by his own community.

Chosen as one of the first deacons of the early Church, Stephen was known for wisdom, compassion, and miraculous grace. He served the poor, proclaimed the Gospel boldly, and lived so transparently in the Spirit that Scripture says his face shone like that of an angel.

But holiness provoked hostility.

Accused falsely, dragged before religious authorities, and condemned for proclaiming Jesus as the Messiah, Stephen did not defend himself with fear.

He testified.

Even as stones were raised against him, Stephen forgave his executioners and entrusted his spirit to Christ. His death became the seed of the Church’s courage and the beginning of a lineage of martyrs.

Today, Saint Stephen is prayed to by those facing persecution, workplace hostility, family rejection over faith, and anyone trying to forgive deep wounds while remaining faithful to truth. He is especially sought by people experiencing betrayal, spiritual opposition, and fear of speaking openly about Christ.

This prayer card honors the saint who teaches that love does not end when suffering begins.

Each card is handmade in Austin and created to order. We do not keep stock, because every prayer card is treated as a unique devotional offering. They are printed on museum-quality photo paper, not cardstock, and each one is made during prayer. The saints are venerated throughout the entire process, and prayers are intentionally offered for the person who will receive the card. These are not mass-produced items. They are created slowly, reverently, and with spiritual intention, because every soul and every prayer matters.
